Dalia Burshtein

Biography

I was born in Tel-Aviv in 1950.

I have studied art in WIZO France Secondary School (1964-1968) where I was exposed to the finest artists from the Russian circle such as Rosenthalis and Tepler.

In 1970 I have continued my artistic education at the Art College (1970-1973), where I was exposed to the Modern Art of the 50s, 60s and 70s. Among my teachers there where some renown artists such as Rafi Lavi, Nachum Tevet and Efrat Nathan. At that time I was influenced by the Modern American artists such as Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Jim Dwain, Alberto Giacometti, and Susanne Rotenberg who promoted mixed media collages composed of different objects such as drawings, photographs and prints with oil painting.

In 1982 I became a member at the Israeli Association of Painters and Sculptors.

My creation is influenced by the bright light of the worm Israeli climate. They are characterized by combining classics elements from the renaissance, the 70s American art movement, readymade art and art Provera. Using mixed media collage of soft colour by using oil and pastel paints combined with hand sketch.

In the last few years I have started to create modern sculpture installation using readymade objects.

Along the years I have exhibited in individual and group exhibitions, gaining my own clientele of fine art buyers and collectors. My painting can be seen in various art galleries, auctions house and in large offices.

Alongside my painting creations, I took interest through the years in jewellery design.

I have started to design jewelleries 20 years ago, taking special interest in sculpture jewelleries design and creating ornamental silver jewelleries using electroforming technique.

My jewelleries are an amalgamation of the old and new. I integrate in my design, old jewelleries that I have collected through the years from backlit, Victorian, silver and custom jewelleries.

I'm currently designing jewelleries in bezant style, using buttonhole technique, conjoining new and old elements, and beads with nuts.
