Shira Halfon

Biography

Shira Halfon, Born 1971, married and mother of two, is a unique artist, using various techniques, and a variety of materials to express her voice.

Shira holds a BA in product design from HIT-  the Holon Institute of Technology.

Shira draws from a very young age but after graduating from HIT almost two decades ago she parted with her paintbrushes due to a family tragedy, and began working for an NGO 'Friends for Health' providing assistance and advice to the sick and handicapped.

Shira also volunteers at 'Friends for Health' painting workshop for the patients at Tel Hashomer Hospital.

After she refrained from drawing for a very long time, she decided it was time to free her talent. Three years ago, Shira gathered her courage and picked up her paintbrush again.

In her work Shira explores her body, family and the models. The human figure and the woman at the center are a central motif in her paintings. Shira creates extremely realistic paintings but also uses free technique, and a huge variety of materials - pastel, watercolor, colored ink, oil paint industry, embroidery and silkscreen. Her paintings are characterized by bold colors combined with figurative elements with abstract or decorative motif

The exhibition "45" is Shira first solo exhibition. It opened at the Bluebird Gallery, Petach Tikva, Israel in June 2016 - Watch Shira TV  intreview
