Vasilenko Valentin Sergeevich

 

Born in 1937 in USSR, today's Ukraine. In a small town. Having a harsh childhood of 

 

severe poverty and Nazi occupation, remembers himself always having a strong 

 

passion for drawing.  Once, being still a child, "for fun" drew human's hand in 

 

different position 300 times. After military service in occupied Germany,cerving as a 

 

tank crue member during the very much beginning of cold was, settled in Kiev, the 

 

capital of Ukraine. His young years spent mastering the art of painting while earning 

 

his bread by refurbishing and renewing old orthodox churches cealings, scattered in 

 

sattelite cities and villages around Kiev. 

 

Graduated art academy in Kiev in 1967, and became member of the Soviet Union 

 

Artists Union.  Participated in several exhibitions abroad during the "stall" period of 

 

Soviet foreign policy.

 

In 1991 emmigrates with family to Israel. Soon after repatriation becomes part of 

 

Moshe Badash's project of   supporting newcoming "Olim" painters. He was one of 

 

few painters that  saw the ending of project. Between 1991 and  1993 many of his 

 

works were sold to different countries as a part of that project. 

 

Having to support his family, worked in many physical jobs , but never abandoned his 

 

passion to painting, presenting his works in small galleries, mainly in city of Jaffa. 

 

Currently retired, lives in Gan – yavne ,spending his days doing what he loves the 

 

most. Painting.

 

 

Education

 

1967 – graduated art academy of Kiev, becomes member of Soviet Union Artists Union.

Japan: Tokyo, Tekoso Gallery, 1978-1979.

 

Finland:Helsinki,1993.

 

Collections

 

His art can be found in national museums in Kiev, Lvov and in private collections in 

 

following countries:

 

Ukraine, Russia, Canada,England,France, Israel,Japan. 

 

These days carries on with his paintings, devoting himself purely to the joy of making art.
